Judges Needed for National History Day

You’re invited to be part of National History Day in Missouri 2017! Please make plans to join us at the state contest on April 29 at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

We are seeking 150 volunteers to serve as judges at this exciting annual event, and we hope you will support Missouri students as they express their passion for history through five diverse competition categories: documentaries, exhibits, papers, performances, and websites.

You will be amazed by the creativity and hard work that History Day students put into their projects. Top finishers will advance to represent Missouri at the national contest in the Washington, DC, area in June. We thank you in advance for sharing your time and your talents with these students.

“It is such a joy to see young people loving history and having fun.” —NHDMO judge

Judges can expect to spend the day interacting with students from across the state in grades six through twelve and providing constructive comments on their work. This feedback contributes to their learning experience and helps prepare top finishers for nationals.

To thank you for your essential participation in National History Day in Missouri 2017, we will provide a light breakfast, lunch, and a travel stipend of up to $50 for those whose round trip mileage exceeds 75 miles.

Sign up today. If you have questions, please email nhdmo@shsmo.org, or call 573.882.7083.

Thank you for saving the date of April 29 for an exciting, interactive day of history, and please share this invitation with others who may be interested. We look forward to seeing you!
